Phone

AT&T vs Project Fi

AT&T offers a plan for $60/month that includes the average price of a phone and has 1GB of data available each month.

Project Fi is Google's offering of a cell service. Their project features the use of multiple other cellular providers to give the user the best connection whenever possible. Project Fi offers a plan costing $57.04 that includes the price of their flagship and their 1GB data plan. A little bonus is that any data not used gets refunded over to the next bill.

Chosen Provider

I have chosen to go with Project Fi because it is cheaper and will eventually just be $30 a month once the phone is paid off. The only downside is I don't know how the service will be in Maine since most areas are rural.

Internet/Cable

Spectrum vs Google Fiber

Spectrum (formerly Time Warner Cable) offers internet speeds starting at 60mbps down and 6mbps up for $29.99/month, but this requires me to also sign up for their cable service and only lasts as a 12 month deal.

Google Fiber is Google's offering of internet service that has started deployment in some areas of the U.S. The goal is to force other providers to start competing again and also give its customers hassle-free internet and cable service. Google Fiber offers 1,000mbps down and up for $70/month. It includes a modem and router at no additional cost.

Chosen Provider

Unfortuantely I have to choose Spectrum as they have a bit of a oligopoly going on in Maine. Google also doesn't have any plans of expansion into Maine anytime soon, so that's out of the picture. If Google Fiber was available in the Portland area then I would have chosen it in a heartbeat.
